A bit of Yin, a bit of Yang.

Howdy everyone! 👋

What’s occurring? I hope you are happy and enjoying some peace despite it all.

This month’s Yiniverse happenings:

#1 – Nasal Breathing

Recently in class, a discussion on breathwork unfolded and I couldn’t remember in the moment the resources I wanted to share. The expert I blanked on was James Nestor! Nostril breathing (instead of mouth) is the tool worth sharpening to optimise function. Available to you 24/7 and free.

The other expert I failed to mention – when sticking my fingers under my ribs to demonstrate how shallow breathing & sedentary lifestyles can cause fused diaphragms was – Dr. John Douillard. I think he could be a nice place to start if you want to learn more – one of my favourites for all things Ayurvedic.

Breathe lovingly through your nose any chance you get 😉 Even if you don’t have a fully functioning schnoz, the benefits are mighty. You will only improve.

#2 – Monday Morning Classes

9:30am Yin at The Healing Garden has been so enjoyable for me but are generally 1-3 person classes. I might try another time-slot down the line. Perhaps Monday nights or another weekday morning. Let me know what would work for you in the comments section at the very bottom. For now, anyone who can make these morning sessions might just get to try a wall-based Yin sequence!

#3 – ClassPass & CLASSPACKS!

All my classes are now live on ClassPass – for Brooklyn Community Hall and The Healing Garden Williamstown. I hope it makes it easier for those of you who currently use this app.

For those requesting Class Packs – you can purchase here. 10x classes for $140, valid for use until the end of the year.

#4 – $8 Concession

Yin is longevity fortifying, integral for menopause, injury, trauma supportive and in my opinion barrierless to wherever you are in life. Accessible to absolutely every kind of body. My concession covers Seniors, students, unwaged and anyone experiencing financial hardship. Having access to something that will fill your cup is essential in these rough times. I have set this up for all my classes – so if this is you, select concession when booking.

#5 – Five classes per week in Brooklyn

Entry to Brooklyn Community Garden

Term 4 Wholeness Program has begun:
5pm Wednesdays
9am & 10am Saturdays
5pm & 6pm Sundays

#6 – Oracle Circle

Next Reading / Sharing Circle will be after class on:
✨ Sunday 26th for Brooklyn Community Hall. 🔮
✨ Wednesday 29th for The Healing Garden Williamstown. 🔮

#7 – Mini Retreat on Sunday October 19

Joanne from Healing Soul Whispers & I are hosting a mini-retreat. A 2.5 hour sesh of Yin & Soundbathing. It’s going to be so lush. I hope you can make it, or if not – maybe you’d like to gift a session to a loved one who needs a little magical TLC.

#8 – Tree Project & collective liberation

I have been dedicating Sundays to either marching in the City in protest of genocide – for Palestine but also for all the bloodshed globally.. Ukraine, Myanmar, Sudan, Nigeria (almost 2 years of peaceful Sunday marches in Melbourne..unbelievable). If anyone has ever wanted to go, but felt alone or scared you have a fellow peaceful protester in me. We can go together 🕊️

October 5, 2025. Marching and chanting for the liberation of all. As we approached Collin’s Street we stopped in front of Future Fund offices to loudly protest their investment in Elbit Systems, a weapons manufacturer & major supplier to the Israeli Defense Force.

When not disrupting business as usual, you will find me chatting to the soil in my garden or volunteering with Tree Project. If you’d like to spend a day doing light labour in Kensington, be outdoors and learn some cool things – join me every other Sunday until November 16.

Volunteer grown Woolly Tea Trees. Not all seedlings get planted in time, so all kinds of extras are free to volunteers to take home. Beware – some of these babies grow up to 3m!

Ok, bye!

Hong xoxo

Yin Yoga, like any good thing is best practiced consistently. Practicing often will guarantee needle moving positive change and healing.

Remember ~ Yin is the balance to Yang. Yang is sweaty exercise, busy lifestyles, power, building, growing, going-going-going. Yin is slow and steady, quiet, internal, softness, cultivating, repairing, enjoying-enjoying-enjoying. You need both!

Spread the wonderful practice of Yin Yoga and forward this on to a loved one, colleague, neighbour or friend. 🧘‍♀️✨
